A recent survey* shows recruiters consider LinkedIn to deliver the highest quality of job applicants while Indeed delivers the most quantity of today's job boards. In addition, recruiters say that in the next year, they plan to invest most of their recruiting dollars in these two job networking sites and boards. Nineteen percent of the respondents say they planned to invest more in LinkedIn, while 13 percent said they were planning to spend more of their recruiting budgets on Indeed.

Conversely, recruiters state that Monster, Craigslist and Glassdoor delivered the fewest “high-quality” candidates however,  cost less to use than LinkedIn or Indeed.  They also indicated that Indeed, CareerBuilder and Craigslist are most effective for recruiting candidates for entry-level positions.

What does this mean for today's job seekers? Never has it been more important than it is now to have a LinkedIn profile that relays a strong, professional image to capture hiring managers and recruiters.

We recently wrote about the need for job seekers to have an updated, well-written LinkedIn profile (see article here), and this latest recruiter survey drives home the point. According to Masters In Human Resources, 77 percent of all job openings are posted on LinkedIn, and 48 percent of recruiters post solely on LinkedIn.

Waste no more time in getting a LinkedIn profile and making sure you fill it out completely and accurately. Draft your summary with the kind of words and phrasing that will get you noticed among recruiters. Pay attention to your descriptive phrasing on who you are and what you do, which falls just under your name on the profile page. Make sure you use key words to capture the attention of recruiters in your specific industry.

Not sure how to go about doing this? Lacking confidence in your skill set in this area? You are not alone.
